About 100 years ago, Lido Isle (Lido Island), located in Newport Beach Harbor, was no more than a sandbar but was transformed into a man-made island. In 1906 Lido Island was incorporated as part of Newport Beach. There are no commercial facilities on the island other than a snack bar open in the summer. The only link to Newport Beach is a small bridge. About 1,800 people live on the island. Home prices can be in the multi millions for an ocean front location.
The social center of Lido Island is the Lido Island Club House, which hosts the Lido Island Yacht club. If you own property on Lido Island, then you must pay an annual assessment and this includes your membership to the Community Association. Residents of Lido Island play a big part in the annual Newport Christmas Boat Parade.
Lido Island would not be considered a tourist destination but is a residential community. If you were to drive down the strip you would see the backs of houses that face the ocean on both sides of the island.
